Always pay your Credit Card bills on time to avoid late fees. This seems like a no-brainer but many people are very unorganized when it comes to paying bills and thus are perpetually late paying them.Â This can lead to exorbitant late fees that can add big bucks to your bills.
If itâ€™s the first time that youâ€™ve ever paid a CC bill late you can always call the CC company and beg forgiveness.Â If youâ€™re a good customer with no history of late payments thereâ€™s a good chance that they will waive the fee for you.
Avoid overdraft fees by staying on top of your checking and savings account and knowing the balance. If you have bills that are automatically deducted this becomes even more important.
If you need cash use ATM machines sparingly.Â Almost all charge a fee with Wells Fargo bank being the worst at $5.00!Â Then again at some Wal-Mart locations you can withdraw for no charge so itâ€™sgood to know which places are the best and use them or keep enough cash on hand that you donâ€™t need to use an ATM at all.
If you have a land-line telephone but everyone in the house has a cell phone you should definitely consider disconnectingyourhome phone.Â It isnâ€™t necessary today and usually is at least $60 to $70 a month, money that you could use to pay the cell phone bill.
Get rid of any CCs with annual fees.Â There are certainly plenty of them that donâ€™t charge for the â€˜privilegeâ€™ of using their card so use those instead of the ones that do.
Consider using the library to get your books, magazines and movies. Borrowing is free and the fact is that once youâ€™ve read a book or seen a movie you probably wonâ€™t need to read or see it again anytime soon.
