Well boys and girls the Holidays are practically upon us once again and, if money’s tight, you may be looking for some ways to bring in some extra money so that you’ll be able to finance all of those holiday gifts, parties and so forth that you’re excitedly looking forward to. If that sounds like you, today’s blog should be a Holiday treat because we put together a number of excellent tips for earning extra cash. Enjoy.
As in years past, one of the easiest ways to make extra money around the holidays is to get a job in retail. Even though online sales are increasing like crazy, retail stores big and small still need people to help out during the holiday rush. You’ll certainly do well if you have experience in the retail sector (and a whole lot of patience) and now’s the time to start looking because the best positions are going to fill up pretty fast.
Another excellent way to make money is to sell a “micro service” on a website like Fiverr.com. Fiverr allows people to sell services and products for $5. and, even though it’s not huge money, if you have a wacky skill or can provide somebody something quickly and cheaply it’s a great way to make a few bucks. Frankly, it takes a while to really gain some traction on the website, gain a reputation and sell enough “Gigs” to make any real money, but if you have a cool skill that you can provide quickly and easily you may just find that you start making quite a bit of extra money.
If you have skills that you have learned over several years like editing, drafting, proofreading and so forth, you can monetize those skills and sell them on the web. In fact, there are several websites (similar to Fiverr, above) that will help you find potential clients who are willing to pay for your skills and the work that you provide. Those include Elance.com, Freelancer.com and Odesk.com, among others. On these sites you can sign up, advertise your skills and, maybe more importantly, work right from home and save money and time on commuting. Another suggestion is to use the website Craigslist.org to post advertisements for your services and find clients there. I know people who are earning an extra $1,000 a month using these services.
This seems to be an endless supply of websites where you can sell your homemade products like T-shirts, decorations, designs and other things. Two of the biggest are CafePress.com and Zazzle.com and indeed millions of people use the site to earn enough money to actually support themselves better than their full time job. Of course, as with any type of business like this you need to put in quite a bit of time and energy in order to get a fan base and start making real money.
You can also use Craigslist.org to find part-time work and small jobs all around your town or city. People post small jobs to the website all the time including help with moving things, cleaning, yard work, in-home care for the elderly and many other projects big and small. You need to check the website every day in order to find the best small jobs and get them before someone else does, but it gives you plenty of flexibility and allows you to make some extra money on your time doing work and projects that you choose.
Whatever you decide to do keep in mind that the holidays can be just a special without having to spend every single dollar that you have or going broke in the process. Best of luck in your search for some part-time work and extra cash and, most importantly, Happy holidays and Merry Christmas.
